My Story

In April 2021 I went through a traumatic breakup, which hit me harder than I ever thought possible. I had just returned from a seven month tour of Iraq with the British Army, and thrown back into the midst of another national lockdown.

I struggled to cope, and within days, was contemplating suicide.

I went for a walk and planned how I would do it.

When I got home, something made me reach out and look for help. I couldn't talk to friends or family without fear of stigma, being described as crying out for attention, or being told to man up.

So I Googled. And I found Shout 85258.

I chatted with the volunteer through tears. It was when they asked me "when will you do this" that I snapped out of it.

That volunteer may well have saved my life. And I know of hundreds and thousands of people Shout 85258, and other mental health charities, save every year.

In 2021 I ran across Dartmoor in the UK and raised money for Shout 85258. Now I am taking it one step further...

I plan to summit Everest. Because, why not.

8848.86m high. Also known as Sagarmāthā or Chomolungma (Tibetan for Mother Goddess of the World.)
